Li and Liu would hook up once in a while after that, nobody knew about their affair. On the surface, Li was still together with Zhang, and Zhang actually felt glad that Li was not depressed anymore and had gotten used to the situation. He was quite worried that the long distance relationship might finally crumble.

Liu was hoping that the hook ups meant he actually had a chance to win Li’s heart. But every time he tried to ask further about it, Li just shied away from giving any clear answers. Liu waited because he didn’t want to put pressure on Li, maybe he was not ready or not sure how to end it with Zhang.

But Liu couldn’t hold it no more one day and he just had to know where he stood. After they had dinner and were back at Liu’s place, he popped the question, “你是真心要和我在一起的吗? (Do you really want to be with me?)”
Li was caught off guard, even though he knew he would have to face this, he wasn’t prepared for tonight. He tried to avoid answering the question as usual, “今晚别谈这些好吗？ (Let’s not talk about this tonight, shall we?)”
“不行，今天无论如何你都得给我一个答复 (I’m sorry, you have to give me an answer today)，”Liu replied sternly, “原以为你需要时间适应和准备，可现在已经拖地太久了，我已经没办法再毫下去了。 (I thought you needed time and preparation, but it’s been long overdue now, I can’t waste my time like this anymore.)”
“你就一定得这样吗？咱们现在不是挺好的吗？ (Do you have to be like this? Aren’t we good with the way it is?)”
“对你是挺好呗，我不知道你心里到底在想啥。要不，咱们就做个了结，要不，你就跟张毅说清楚，你选一样 （It’s good for you probably, I have no idea what is in your mind. Either we end it between the two of us, or you end it with Zhang, choose on)，”Liu replied, laying out the options for Li.
“我... (I...)” Li uttered, couldn’t make a decision.
“在你做出决定之前，我们最好别再见面了，请你马上离开这里 (Before you could make a decision, I think it’s best we not see each other again, please leave immediately)，” Liu pushed on.

Li had no choice but to leave Liu’s place. He knew that this day would come, and all this while he had been thinking which way to choose, but there was just no answer. He knew that Zhang was very good to him, but right now, Liu was the one who could provide him comfort, by being there by his side.

Li wandered on the streets, and wondered how his life had become such a big mess...
